Description |
To investigate the mantle transition zone structure beneath Myanmar region, we performed receiver function analysis using seismic data collected from 114 regional broadband stations in and around Myanmar. These seismic stations include 1) a portable array of 71 stations with a spacing of 15-40 km under the China-Myanmar Geophysical Survey in the Myanmar Orogen (CMGSMO) project between 06/2016 and 01/2018 (http://www.seislab.cn/shownews.asp?column_id=310); 2) 34 stations operated by the Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) between 06/2016 and 01/2018 (https://earthobservatory.sg/resources/data/myanmar-velocity-model-v1) and 3) 9 permanent stations from the Myanmar National Seismic Network (MM, doi.org/10.7914/SN/MM) between 05/2016 and 11/2018, downloadable from the Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS) Data Management Center (DMC) (https://www.iris.edu/hq/). For RF analysis, we first selected earthquakes with magnitude larger than 5.5 and epicentral distance between 30° and 90°. Seismograms with low signal-to-noise ratio and those showing strong interference with other phases were manually discarded. Subsequently, the Z-N-E component seismograms were rotated into the P-SV-SH ray-based system, followed by a time-domain spiking deconvolution. A bandpass filter of 3-30 s was applied to the resulting 9954 receiver functions. The final receiver function waveform files are stored in the directories as: source/station/station_YYYYDDD_HHMMSS.SAC (e.g. ./IGG/E01/E01_2016171_094723.SAC), where ‘source’ indicates IGG (Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences), EOS (Earth Observatory of Singapore) or IRIS (Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology). Earthquake information can be found on the USGS website (https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/search/). |

Date |
China-Myanmar Geophysical Survey in the Myanmar Orogen (CMGSMO) project between 06/2016 and 01/2018; Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) between 06/2016 and 01/2018; Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS) Data Management Center (DMC) between 05/2016 and 11/2018 |
Type |
The receiver function data with sampling rate of 40 Hz were cut within the time window of 50 seconds before and 100 seconds after the direct P-wave. A bandpass filter of 3-30 seconds was applied. |
Format |
*.SAC (Standard SAC format, can be read directly using SAC, ObsPy, MATLAB, et al. Necessary information, such as locations of the station (STLA: latitude; STLO: longitude) and earthquake (EVLA, EVLO, EVDP), sampling rate (DELTA), number of sampling points (NTPS), has been stored in the head list of each file.) |
