Title Magnetotelluric data and lithospheric resistivity model in central South China
Creator Xin Li
Subject Broadband and long-period magnetotelluric data; Electrical resistivity model
Publisher Xiukuan Zhao
Description To illuminate the possible remnants of ancient tectonic processes beneath the central South China Block (SCB), 99 broadband and 32 long-period magnetotelluric (MT) sites were deployed in 2016-2017 to image the deep electrical structure along a profile across the southwestern segment of the Jiangnan Orogenic Belt (JOB). This profile starts on the southeastern edge of the Yangtze Block and extends eastward across the JOB into the western part of the Cathaysia Block. Two electric and three magnetic fields were recorded at each site, using Phoenix MTU-5A and LVIV LEMI-424 instruments. Modern remote-reference, robust time series processing techniques were used to estimate the MT impedance tensors and vertical magnetic transfer functions. These data were jointly inverted using an updated version of the 3-D MT inversion package ModEM. After 194 iterations, the final resistivity model yields a RMS misfit value of 2.62.
Datasets include: Observed impedance and tipper data; Predicted impedance and tipper data; Final 3-D resistivity model.
