Title Statistical catalogue of meteor trail non-field-aligned irregularities based on the MIOS facility
Creator Ye Wang
Subject Meteor radar, Long-lived non-specular meteor echoes, Meteor trail non-field-aligned irregularities
Publisher Xiukuan Zhao
Description The all-sky radar and optical cameras of Meteor and ionospheric Irregularity Observation System (MIOS) at Ledong (18.4°N, 109°E) was employed to investigate the occurrences of meteor trail non-field-aligned irregularities at low latitudes. The data file contains (1). Radar data of several typical meteor events, which contain the signal power, arrival angle, height and zonal distance from radar site, named as: LD year month day hour minute .mat (e.g., LD201810150039); (2). Video data of a meteor event observed by the optical cameras, which named as: OpticalData year month day hour minute .mat (e.g., OpticalData201810151954); (3). Statistical data of non-specular meteor echo events detected during the periods October 2018, January, April and July 2019, which contain the angular location, duration and the aspect angle off-perpendicular to the magnetic field, named as: StatisticalData_NonSpecalEchoes.mat; (4). Statistical data of specular meteor echoes (short as Spe) and non-specular meteor NFAI echoes (short as Nonspe) detected during the periods October 2018, January, April and July 2019, which contain the height, daily and universal time distribution of meteor events, named as: StatisticalData_SpeVersusNonspe.mat; (5). Signal power of radar echo on 15th, Oct. 2018, which named as: LD_RTI20181015.
The Radar data is firstly processed by a Cascade-RCNN deep-learning model for meteor signal detection. Then we manually verify and correct the detection results. For researchers that interested in the deep-learning method, we provide the source codes and the training dataset. For detailed information, please refer to the ‘RadarCascadeRCNN_README.pdf’ in the ‘RTI_CascadeRCNN_scripts.zip’ file.

Type The data variables are defined and stored as the shorthand of each variable in the data file. For statistical data file, the data variables are also distinguished by echo types (Spe and Nonspe) and month (201810, 201901, 201904, 201907).
Format .mat, available in MATLAB.
