Title Water level observation data (2008-2015) obtained from CENC (China Earthquake Networks Center)
Creator Yan Zhang
Subject Groundwater observation data
Publisher Xiukuan Zhao
Description This dataset provides continuous groundwater level records from six high-quality deep wells in the North China Craton, specifically BD (117.283°E, 39.275°N), GC (116.8667°E, 39.6167°N), HZ (115.43°E, 35.25°N), QXMS (112.55°E, 36.69°N), XY (111.76°E, 37.16°N), and ZJZ (116.45°E, 39.95°N). All observations were sourced from the digital network of the China Earthquake Networks Center. These data are primarily used to investigate the impact of the 2008 Mw 7.9 Wenchuan and 2011 Mw 9.1 Tohoku earthquakes on the permeability and poroelastic properties of the crust. The dataset facilitates the identification of unrecoverable co-seismic changes in crustal media caused by low-permeability heterogeneity.

Date Continuous minute-level observation data from 2008 to 2015, during which two huge earthquakes occurred (the 2008 Mw 7.9 Wenchuan earthquake and the 2011 Mw 9.1 Tohoku earthquake).
Type Water level data recorded by LN-3A digital instruments with a sampling rate of 1 sample per minute.
Format The data are stored in *.DIG format, which is a standard ASCII-based format that can be read directly by MATLAB and Python. Each file contains two columns: the left column represents the time (YYYY-MM-DD-HH-min), and the right column represents the water level (measured in meters).
