| Description |
We collected tree ring samples from Yangxin Dian complex in the Forbidden City. Chemical extraction of α-cellulose used the modified plate method (Xu et al., 2013). We measured the oxygen isotope ratios of YXD-5. Tree-ring cellulose oxygen isotope ratios (18O/16O) were measured with an isotope ratio mass spectrometer (Delta V Advantage, Thermo Scientific, Germany), coupled to a pyrolysis-type, high-temperature conversion elemental analyzer (Flash HT, Thermo Scientific, Germany) at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. We also calculated the probabilistic of geographic assignment based on oxygen and strontium isoscapes to identify the provenance of these nanmu timbers. All statistical modeling and spatial analyses were performed using R. |
