| Description | This dataset contains modeled auroral intensity distributions and comprehensive validation materials for comparing OVATION-AACGM and OVATION-Dipole (original OVATION Prime 2010) models. The OVATION-AACGM model enhances the physical interpretability of mid-latitude aurora visibility by integrating the AACGM v2 coordinate system, which better represents the actual geomagnetic field topology in mid-latitude East Asia. Data File Descriptions AACGM/ - Directory containing OVATION-AACGM model outputs in .sav format with geographic coordinates and energy flux for Northern Hemisphere. Dipole/ - Directory containing original OVATION Prime 2010 (Dipole-based) model outputs in .sav format with geographic coordinates and energy flux for Northern Hemisphere. DMSPDistance/ - Directory containing processed DMSP/SSUSI satellite data with calculated distances from auroral boundaries to Mohe station, organized by date (2023-2025). AACGMDistance2023_2025.mat - Time series of minimum distances from OVATION-AACGM modeled auroral boundaries to Mohe station (2023-2025). AACGMDistance2025_2026.mat - Time series of minimum distances from OVATION-AACGM modeled auroral boundaries to Mohe station (March 2025 - January 2026). Coordinate_Comparison_Results.mat - Statistical comparison results between AACGM and Dipole coordinate systems, including matched dates, distances, and observed aurora visibility flags. DipoleDistance2023_2025.mat - Time series of minimum distances from OVATION-Dipole modeled auroral boundaries to Mohe station (2023-2025). DipoleDistance2025_2026.mat - Time series of minimum distances from OVATION-Dipole modeled auroral boundaries to Mohe station (March 2025 - January 2026). dmspf18_ssusi_edr-aurora_2025001T102422-2025001T120613-REV078438_vA8.2.0r000.nc - DMSP F18 satellite SSUSI instrument EDR-Aurora data file for orbit 078438 on January 1, 2025, containing auroral boundary observations in NetCDF format. MoheObserve.xlsx - Ground-based aurora observation records dates from Mohe station for validation of forecast model performance (March 2025 - January 2026). MoheWeather.xlsx - Weather observation records from Mohe station documenting cloudy and rainy days used to filter analysis periods and exclude unfavorable observing conditions.
